Check out this teaser video of our guest speaker for October 2016's Sunday Assembly Canberra:
Who are you? Do you know? Who are the people we share our lives with? How do they identify?
October 2016's assembly is on the theme of Identity, and we will approach the topic from multiple angles.
Our keynote speaker is the fabulous Jenni Atkinson:
Jenni is an out and proud transwoman, consultant, facilitator and educator who has been working for 25 years to educate people everywhere that TGD (Trans and Gender Diverse) people are people who are just like everyone else: worthy of respect, love and an equitable existence in life, free from hate, vilification and violence.
Jenni comes to us fresh from the prestigious stage of TEDxCanberra, and will deliver a fresh talk for the Sunday Assembly Canberra audience.
Our personal reflection comes from Priscilla Sutton, a "loud and proud amputee", who will share some of her collection of coloured prosthetic legs with us.
Speaking of loud, get ready to sing some Barnesy! We will be belting out "Working Class Man" together, along with two other songs on the theme of identity.
See you Sunday 16 October at Majura Hall, Dickson. Please arrive by 2:15 for a 2:30 p.m. start.
If you are coming along to the assembly, we are always very grateful to anyone who can bring a home-baked or store-bought cake to share after the assembly!
