Sometimes we need determination to rise above our challenges, and to persevere. Sometimes we need Grit.
At Sunday Assembly Canberra in February 2017, we will focus on the theme of Grit. We have recruited a wonderful speaker to share her unique story with us.
Barbara Baikie believes in living her life to the fullest, challenging herself, and speaking up for those who are underprivileged in our community.
In 2011, Barbara Baikie climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. The journey was part of a series of personal challenges that Barbara set herself. She reflected upon this journey, including the altitude sickness that she experience ascending towards the summit, in her 2013 book Altitude.
An executive coach and management consultant, Barbara is the current President of the National Council of Women Australia. Barbara believes that a bold person must embrace all of their personal qualities, including their weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
Barbara Baikie will be the keynote speaker at the February 2017 Sunday Assembly Canberra, helping us to think deeply about perseverance, courage and grit.
As usual, we will curate a whole event around this theme of Grit, including readings, personal reflection and songs.
