“Happiness is pleasure without regret” – Leo Tolstoy
The speaker for our first Assembly in 2016 is Canberra psychologist Randolph Sparks.
Randolph will be exploring the topic of ‘Pleasure’ – something all of us want to experience, preferably in large and frequent doses. But could the pursuit of pleasure lead us to avoid the unpleasant experiences in life that may ultimately make our lives richer and more interesting? And how can we learn to derive pleasure from the everyday and routine?
Randolph is a clinical psychologist who is passionate about mental health and learning. He is experienced working with a range of problems, and has helped people overcome all sorts of barriers and difficulties. Through wisdom, experience and humour, Randolph will use his expertise to help us understand how we can lead pleasurable lives full of challenge, variety and depth.
