Sunday Assembly Canberra is a radically-inclusive, non-religious gathering held once per month. In a nutshell:

Interesting speaker + community + songs + tea & cake = Sunday Assembly Canberra.

Unlike other events, the community we build is equally as important as the speakers we host. Between each monthly assembly we have social groups and events, to foster our intentional community.

Sunday Assembly's motto is Live Better, Help Often, Wonder More.

Here are our remaining Assembly dates for 2017:

  • 15 October - theme: Gratitude - featuring our AGM immediately afterwards
  • 19 November
  • 10 December

How to help us on Facebook - in less than a minute

We are always trying to get as many 'bums on seats' as possible at our events.

Believe it or not, you can help us to boost our events.

By RSVPing as 'going' or 'interested' to our events on Facebook, you help to widen the net of Canberrans who can see our events through their Facebook feed.

So please visit our Facebook events page, and choose 'going' or 'interested' to our events. While you are there, please directly invite your friends to the event, and 'like' or comment on some things. Facebook loves seeing all of this activity on our page.

Our tech geeks tell us that will really help us to be more visible on the web!

October 2017 Assembly: Gratitude

In October 2017, Sunday Assembly Canberra will discuss giving back. Our event's theme is Gratitude.

Our guest speaker for November's event is Clyde Rathbone. Clyde first made his name in the sport of rugby union, playing 26 test matches for the Australian Wallabies and 73 matches with the ACT Brumbies. Shortly after his retirement from professional rugby, Clyde launched the social network Karma, co-developed with his brother Dayne Rathbone

Karma (karma.wiki) is a social network built on meaningful human connections. It is designed to transcend the narcissistic shortcomings of services like Facebook and LinkedIn. Karma does this by disallowing users from posting about themselves. Instead, users write lengthy letters about other people who are important to them. Clyde will speak to Sunday Assembly Canberra about the wonderful examples of gratitude that have been shared between Karma's users. He will discuss the meditative, selfless magic of writing letters of thanks to someone else.

As usual, we will curate a whole event around this theme of Gratitude, including a reading, a personal reflection, and songs! (Please email us if you have a reading or personal reflection on "gratitude" that you would like to share with us.)

Sunday Assembly Canberra is a radically-inclusive, non-religious gathering held once per month. Our events are built around our motto: Live Better, Help Often, Wonder More.

Where: Majura Hall, Rosevear Place, Dickson. (Near the Majura Tennis courts).
When: Sunday 15 October 2017. Please arrive by 2:15 for a 2:30 p.m. start.
RSVP: Please register your free tickets via http://www.sundayassemblycanberra.com/october-2017

Interesting speaker + community + songs + tea & cake = Sunday Assembly Canberra.

If you are coming along to the assembly, we are always very grateful to anyone who can bring a home-baked or store-bought cake to share after the assembly!

PS: our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will immediately follow this October event. We invite you to attend this session, and share your ideas and enthusiasm on the future direction of Sunday Assembly.
